The New Hampshire Liquor Commission, Brown-Forman, Old Forester Bourbon, and The Mocktail Project are proud to launch New Hampshire’s first-ever Mocktail Month and recipe guide.
More than two dozen restaurants throughout New Hampshire are featuring alcohol-free libations known as mocktails on menus during January. Additionally, a Mocktail Month online recipe book (hyperlink) has been launched with all the ingredients, garnishes, and tips needed to create and enjoy craft mocktails from home.
Craft, sip and share
Customers are encouraged to recreate these tasty mocktails at home or venture to their favorite restaurant and share their experiences and photos on social media with the hashtag #nhmocktailmonth and tagging @themocktailproject and @nhliquorwine for a chance to win some great prizes.
Restaurants across the state are getting creative and supporting those who don’t imbibe or want to enjoy a delicious, alcohol-free option. The Rooftop at The Envio in Portsmouth created the “Merry Christmas, Johnny Rose,” made with Seedlip Spice, raspberry syrup, rosemary honey, lemon, Q Mixers Club Soda, and a rosemary sprig; while The Barn at Bull Meadow in Concord added the “Forest In The Meadow” to their menu, made with maple syrup, orange spritz, orange soda, cola, and an orange slice.
Partners with a purpose
NHLC and Brown-Forman have been long-time partners in promoting responsible consumption. NH Mocktail Month is the latest in their award-winning Live Free & Host Responsibly collaboration.
“Promoting responsible consumption and service of alcohol and creating a safe drinking environment for our consumers is of the utmost importance to the New Hampshire Liquor Commission and a critical component of our mission,” said NHLC Chairman Joseph Mollica.
According to Taylor Amerman, Global Alcohol Responsibility Manager for Brown-Forman, “More than 30-percent of American adults choosing to not consume alcohol, so offering alcohol-free alternatives in all social spaces is essential to empowering mindful choices around beverage alcohol.”
This is the second year The Mocktail Project has participated in the collaboration. Launched in 2017 as a grassroots movement, the Mocktail Project was founded by Jesse Hawkins in an effort to create a stigma-free drinking culture. Since creating the Mocktail Project, Hawkins has traveled around the country promoting the mocktail movement.
“It’s amazing how much support The Mocktail Project has received in New Hampshire. Working with NHLC and Old Forester to launch Mocktail Month is a great example of how a more inclusive, stigma-free drinking culture can be embraced,” said Hawkins.
