The New Hampshire Liquor Commission (NHLC) started with a collection of some of the world’s most sought-after bourbon. It finished with a $100,000 donation to Best Buddies New Hampshire.
NHLC’s Pappy Van Winkle Raffle & Exclusive Tasting Experience has become a resounding success, raising more than $100,000 this year and more than $160,000 combined for New Hampshire nonprofits over the past three years. After raising $50,000 for Best Buddies New Hampshire last year, NHLC upped the ante this year. NHLC enhanced the prize package and increased the number of raffle tickets available from 500 to 1,000.
This year’s raffle featured a prize package of Pappy Van Winkle’s 10-year, 12-year, 15-year, 20-year, and 23-year bourbons, along with the Old Rip Van Winkle 25yr Handmade Bourbon—the oldest bourbon Pappy Van Winkle has ever released. With tickets costing $100 apiece beginning on July 16, the raffle sold out by August 27.
Congratulations to winner Kevin Cresta of Oldsmar, Florida, who received his collection of Pappy Van Winkle bourbons earlier this month. As part of the prize package, Cresta took part in an intimate Pappy Van Winkle tasting and fine dining experience at Crown Tavern in Manchester and was a VIP guest for the Distiller’s Showcase of Premium Spirits, one of the largest spirit tasting events in the country.
This raffle has made a major impact on Best Buddies New Hampshire, which helps people with intellectual and developmental disabilities experience friendship and build a life-giving social network outside of their families and service provides. The organization’s programming allows students and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to take part in social activities through one-to-one friendships. Best Buddies New Hampshire has positively impacted more than 4,100 people in New Hampshire, and the organization is currently expanding its programming to reach more individuals across the state.
