It’s Willamette Dammit – The Dirt on Oregon
- This event has passed.
Join Willamette Valley Vineyards Founder Jim Bernau and taste 5 selections and walk through the history of Willamette Valley AVA and Willamette Valley Vineyards as well as farming and wine-making practices that keep the WVV on the cutting edge of viticulture.
The “budwood” of Willamette Valley Vineyards began long before its founding in 1983 by vintner Jim Bernau. His Dad, a Roseburg attorney, was hired by California winemaker Richard Sommer to secure one of the first winery licenses in Oregon since Prohibition. Jim’s Dad allowed small tastes of Richard’s wine at the dinner table, lighting a path that led Jim from home winemaking to studies at UC Davis and eventually Beaune, France.
Jim’s early “winemaking” grew more from mischief when at the age of 10, he liberated his Mom’s frozen Concord grape juice and followed the description of fermentation he found in the family’s set of encyclopedias.
See how far Jim’s winemaking has come and taste along! We’ll be tasting the following 5 selections:
- 11236 – Willamette Valley Vineyards Pinot Gris
- 24121 – Willamette Valley Vineyards Dijon Clone Chardonnay
- 11238 – Willamette Valley Vineyards Whole Cluster Pinot Noir
- 36847 – Willamette Valley Vineyards Dijon Clone Pinot Noir
- 11239 – Willamette Valley Vineyards Estate Pinot Noir
All registered attendees will receive a coupon for $12 off the purchase of 3 bottles! The coupon will be emailed.
